LUCERNE FUEL CELL FORUM 2009 ![]() Chairman Dr. Frank de Bruijn 29 June 3 July 2008 Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Luzern Lucerne / Switzerland Fundamentals, Materials, Systems, Applications Conference Language: English The Chairman: Dr. Frank de Bruijn Frank
de Bruijn received his university degree in Chemistry at the University
of Utrecht (1989) with specialization on electrochemistry, and his PhD
in Chemical Engineering at the Technical University of Eindhoven. His
dissertation dealt with the characterization of platinum catalysts used
in liquid phase oxidation reactions by electrochemical methods. He joined ECN in 1996, where he started as researcher on reinforced PEMFC membranes and Direct Methanol Fuel Cells. In 1998, he became group manager of PEMFC materials development, and switched in 2001 to management of the Hydrogen Production and Applied Catalysis group. In 2003, he became unit manager Fuel Cell Technologies, and since 2006, unit manager of Hydrogen and Clean Fossil Fuels. In this unit, R&D is aimed at fuel cells for automotive applications, fuel cells for stationary power generation, hydrogen production and CO2 capture. At the same time, transition strategies are made for the introduction of hydrogen as an energy carrier. He is at present also part time Associate Professor on Fuel Cells and Electrochemistry at the Technical University of Eindhoven. He has published more than 20 peer reviewed scientific papers and two book chapters. He holds two fuel cell patents as well. Frank was one of the initiators of the Research Grouping N.ERGHY, which is participating in the Joint Undertaking on Fuel Cells and Hydrogen. Within N.ERGHY, he is board member and responsible for early markets, education and training. On the European level, Frank is also board member of Fuel Cell Europe. In the Netherlands, Frank is as member of the Transition Platform New Gas working on the development of hydrogen and fuel cell demonstration and implementation programs, and member of the Dutch Programme Committee Sustainable Hydrogen. He represents the Netherlands in the IEA Executive Committee of the Advanced Fuel Cells implementing agreement. |
